Dr. Patricia Izbicki is a neuroscientist and medical science liaison at Octave Bioscience, specializing in multiple sclerosis (MS) fluid, imaging, and digital biomarkers. Dr. Izbicki also supports Octave Bioscience's medical affairs, research & development, and market access/commercialization teams.
In addition to her work in neuroscience, Dr. Izbicki is a classical pianist and harpsichordist. Her research explores the brain mechanisms behind complementary therapies like music training for aging adults and those with neurodegenerative diseases. Her doctoral work examined the brain activity of aging musicians versus non-musicians, and her findings have been published in prominent journals including Approaches: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Music Therapy, Neuroscience Letters, Journal of Neuroscience, Psychomusicology: Music, Mind, and Brain, Brain and Behavior, and Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience. She has also contributed articles to BrainFacts, Scientific American, and Johns Hopkins International Arts + Minds Lab.
Dr. Izbicki serves on the executive board of The Giving Voice Initiative, a national nonprofit that inspires and equips organizations to bring together people with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s and their care partners to sing in choruses that foster joy, well-being, purpose, and community understanding. She is dedicated to making a significant impact on the lives of patients with neurodegenerative and neurological diseases globally.
